Menu Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Menu Clerk is responsible for inputting accurate diet information related to patients' and residents' meals, nourishments, and supplements. Responsible for the preparation of patient meal tickets that accurately reflect individual restrictions and preferences and responsible for taking patient menu choices at bedside. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission and Values of Unity Health Toronto.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receives and processes incoming diet orders. Interprets diet order by choosing or verifying the most suitable available diet type as established by the clinical dietitians. Follows allergies, preferences, tolerances and textural needs, relative to the established daily food services menu and available resources. Communicates with units and clinical dietitians to clarify diet orders as required. Ensures all patients have an appropriate daily menu in place for each meal service;
• Makes necessary changes to the daily and weekly menus, as requested;
• Takes and input selective menus at patient bedside and standard food preference instructions as per CBORD Diet Office System;
• Informs Production Manager / Lead Chef of meal service, menu items and production requirements / concerns;
• Responsible for training and orientation of diet office staff;
• Responsible for the occupational health and safety of personal area, as well as residents and patients during time on the units.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Secondary School Diploma;
• Minimum one (1) year experience;
• Excellent computer skills required
• Knowledge of CBORD or other diet office software an asset;
• Good command of the English language is required;
• Thorough knowledge of office practices;
• Good performance record;
• Active CSNM membership an asset;
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills;
• Very good attendance record;
