Who we are

We invite you to join the Kings Landing team Kings Landing needs exceptional individuals to bring history to life. The museum, which first opened to the public in 1970, is well-known and admired as a unique destination due to its' thought-provoking, educational, and engaging living history programs and exhibits. The site is open from June to October for the main season and year-round for special events. It is located along the Saint John River, 35 kilometers from Fredericton, New Brunswick. The 300-acre iconic living history museum is home to nearly 90,000 artifacts as well as many significant historical buildings. We are operating an authentic living history museum that attracts, engages, enriches, and educates the people of New Brunswick. Kings Landing is focused on providing visitors with an interactive 19th century experience.

As we prepare for the exciting celebration of our upcoming 50th anniversary, Kings Landing is searching for a Site Supervisor and Heritage Interpreters to join our passionate team of dedicated employees. If you can provide guest-centered service that is second to none, and contribute to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere at Kings Landing then we want you to join our team.

What you will do

Reporting to the Site Coordinator, you will be responsible for educating the public, guiding tour groups, and assisting with events. We are searching for the following positions: a Site Supervisor and Heritage Interpreters. The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a safe, unique, and interesting learning experience for the public
  • Conveying historical information to the visiting public in an effective manner
  • Guiding tours of the Kings Landing site including history and skills from the 19th century
  • Working closely and cooperatively with other staff
  • Attending required training and scheduled staff meetings
  • Other related duties as required

Work Environment

  • Stationed at Kings Landing
  • Working shifts and flexible hours, including days, weekends and holidays
  • Dressing in period appropriate costume during working shift

Who you are

You are someone who values sharing knowledge and history. You enjoy working with the public both young and old. You must be a team player who is adaptable and able to handle impromptu tasks. You are organized and enjoy a challenge. You also possess strong interpersonal, communication skills with flexibility and are self-motivated.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have

  • Completion of grade 10
  • Experience requirements vary according to the role. Please indicate your experience on your resume
  • Able to communicate effectively with children and adults
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Some positions require written and spoken competence in English and French; other positions require written and spoken competence in English

Nice to have

  • Experience working with the public
  • Experience working in a museum environment
  • Tour guide experience
  • Advanced knowledge of New Brunswick or Loyalist History

Wage

Artisan II - $22.72 per hour
Artisan III - $24.29 per hour
Student wage: $14.75 per hour to $17.79 per hour
