We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Provincial Health Services Authority. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory team in providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and process biological specimens for testing, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and reagents, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Perform various laboratory tests, including urinalysis, blood glucose testing, and occult blood testing, under the supervision of a medical laboratory technologist.
- Assist with clerical duties, such as data entry, record-keeping, and communication with healthcare staff.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Grade 12 or equivalent, with completion of a recognized laboratory assistant training program.
- One year of recent experience in a laboratory setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare staff and patients.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- A competitive hourly rate of $29.27.
