Cook Grill Worker

Join our team of dedicated professionals at the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation as a Cook Grill Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, preparing a variety of a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals for our guests.

Main Purpose and Function

As a Cook Grill Worker, you will be responsible for preparing light meals and short orders from an established menu. You will work in a team environment, adhering to the principles of proper food handling, preparation, and storage. You will also be responsible for plating and presenting food to specifications, maintaining a clean kitchen, and performing other related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare a variety of a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, including banquet and buffet functions
  • Work in a team environment, adhering to the principles of proper food handling, preparation, and storage
  • Plate and present food to specifications
  • Maintain a clean kitchen, following hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules
  • Perform other related tasks, such as washing dishes, pots, pans, storage areas, and floors
Requirements
  • High school education preferred
  • Valid Food Safe Certification required
  • Valid Serving it Right certification a strong asset
  • Experience with preparing and cooking a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals
  • Experience cooking for banquet or buffet events
  • Experience working in a similar unionized Food and Beverage team environment desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and clean standard cooking and kitchen equipment
  • Working knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 kg
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service
