Lac La Ronge Indian Band Education is now accepting applications for the following Full- Time position based out of the Mikisiw Awasis Early Learning Centre in La Ronge, SK:
MAINTENANCE LEAD
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
• Ensure 24/7 availability of emergency services.
• Plan and prioritize work for self and staff.
• Supervise janitorial, maintenance and van drivers under the Early Childhood Program.
• Responsible for proper inventory of materials and supplies. Accountable to administrators for custodial performance.
• Recommend hiring and retention of janitorial, maintenance and van driver personnel.
• Keep up to date on Health and Safety Legislation and WHMIS requirements, as well as Early Childhood Regulations. Perform orientation and training on safety to new workers. Ensure the proper supply of PPE is kept available and that workers are following the proper regulations.
• Monitor work quality.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, property and facilities.
• Perform a variety of plumbing, maintenance, and carpentry functions.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
• Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work.
• Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces as required.
• Keep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly.
• Ensure MSDS sheets of hazardous material are in place in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety requirement.
• Ensure inspections of fire extinguishers and replace the expiring equipment.
• Maintain inventory of new equipment, manuals and warranties.
• Ensure janitorial duties are completed thoroughly daily, weekly, monthly and yearly
• Ensure vehicles are maintained and equipped in accordance with the laws governing the operation of program vans/vehicles in the province of Saskatchewan.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Grade 12
• Fireman Boiler Operator Certificate
• Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
• Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience, preferably in the maintenance of buildings.
• Minimum 3 years of maintenance related work experience required.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Must be familiar with cleaning products.
• Strong customer service orientation and skills.
• Basic mathematical skills required.
• WHMIS Certification.
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
• Proven Supervisory skills.
• Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
• High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
• High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
