Job Summary
The Assessor Coordinator is responsible for promoting the Mission, Vision and Values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (formerly Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region) through provision of safe quality care to clients. He/she is responsible for the provision of assessment, intervention, brief counseling, advice, information and referral about Saskatchewan Mental Health and Addictions Services to callers/clients from all age groups.
Education
- Bachelor of Social Work or Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Master's degree in Psychology
- Additional, training\experience in the following would be beneficial:
- Addictions counseling certificate
- Suicide intervention certificate
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in health care or social services working with mental health and/or addictions populations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply evidence-based decision making.
- Strong assessment skills are required to determine callers' needs.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required to respond to client concerns and requests which are varied and often complex.
- Current clinical knowledge and skill regarding mental illness, addictions, interventions and treatments.
- Strong working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Mental Health Services Act and ability to interpret related legislation as appropriate.
- Broad knowledge of community mental health and addiction resources, including treatment programs and support agencies.
- Well-developed written and verbal communications skills appropriate to the age and stage of the caller.
- Cultural awareness is required.
- Must have the ability to work independently in a customer service oriented manner.
- Other skills required include: customer service; ability to multi-task; effective time management; conflict resolution; negotiation; organization; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment; and interviewing, counseling and teaching skills.
- Must understand and be able to function in a call centre environment.
- Must possess competent data collection skills and be able to work with a variety of electronic and manual resources.

- Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.
