Director, Information Technology Director, Information Technology

About the Role

This is a critical contributor to our overall vision to reduce the burden of cancer on all Canadians. You will be responsible for shaping and implementing our future state digital vision, carrying out projects and initiatives to achieve organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • IT Strategies and Programs
    • Develop and deliver an integrated technology strategy that supports effective and efficient decision-making to drive achievement of our strategic plan and annual business objectives.
    • Provide leadership, support, and investment decisions for technology-enabled strategies.
    • Plan, manage, engage partners, and deliver technology-enabled strategies and transformational projects.
    • Build a collaborative work environment, infrastructure, resources, and technical skills for information management within the organization.
    • Create a governance framework, with adherence to IT quality standards, for all staff.
    • Regularly assess our exposure to cybersecurity and other organizational risks and implement appropriate programs.
    • Develop and maintain a suite of comprehensive framework of policies and procedures for information management, business continuity, privacy, and security.
    • Collaborate with external partners and vendors to assess effectiveness of technology strategies and make ongoing adjustments as needed.
  • IT Operations
    • Directly manage the IT Team to ensure optimal efficiency, effectiveness, and optimization of our technical infrastructure, systems, and day-to-day operations.
    • Participate in the annual corporate planning and budgeting process, including developing, forecasting, and managing the IT budget and future IT investments.
    • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and relationships, including consulting, hosting, and maintenance contracts.
    • Develop and manage collaborative relationships with key technical staff in partner organizations connected to our strategy to ensure technology enablement and success of program initiatives.
    • Monitor the cost and effectiveness of IT investments and initiatives to preserve budget envelope.
    • Drive innovation throughout the organization and IT function to achieve cost savings and increased efficiencies.
    • Develop and monitor performance measures, IT audit as applicable.
    • Develop and maintain corporate policies related to effective and efficient use of IT resources, including Acceptable Use, Records Management, Freedom of Information, etc.
    • Lead the annual business continuity plan program.
    • Identify risk areas and recommend/take measures to implement corrective actions and maintain safeguards.
    • Maintain awareness of the external landscape, market trends, new industry developments, compliance standards, and best practices.
    • Assist the Senior Management Team and others as required.
    • Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • General Accountabilities
    • Contribute to the strategic leadership and direction of the organization through participation on the Partnership's Strategic Management Committee.
    • Hold shared accountability for collaboration across divisions and portfolios and with external partners, particularly to ensure opportunities for strategic alignment with all aspects of the Cancer Strategy.
    • Support Vice-President accountabilities and achievement of strategic priorities.
    • Contribute to setting division strategy and goals, allocating resources, and delivering results on time and within budget.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, or other relevant discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive IT leadership experience with specific experience in leading complex, transformational IT system projects to drive change within an organization.
  • Experience delivering integrated technology solutions in a multi-stakeholder and/or partnership environment under aggressive timelines.
  • Confidence making strategic recommendations resulting in effective information technology decisions.
  • A broad understanding of the technology, systems, and information management programs to support organizational needs in a hybrid work environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft's software and cloud ecosystem.
