CARPENTER -PHSA

JOB TYPE:

$37.19/hr

LOCATION:
BC Children's and Women's Hospital and Health Centre Oak St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3N1

Responsibilities

Reviewing work requests, communicating with user departments, and evaluating designs, drawings, and specifications to understand project needs
Maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools
Conducting operational and safety risk assessments for work projects
Arranging work schedules with user departments and assembling supplies, tools, and equipment
Designing, constructing, and maintaining woodwork, doors, and hardware
Installing and repairing structural elements such as T-bar ceiling grids, wall guards, handrails, and wall components that adhere to the relevant Building Codes and By-Laws
Completing relevant reports and records, such as daily work summary sheets
Performing other general maintenance and repair duties related to building exteriors and equipment
Handling a variety of areas such as concrete formwork, fencing, barricades, playground equipment, or cladding
Assigning work tasks to designated staff and providing related training and orientation

Qualifications

Completion of Secondary School education
A minimum of 2 years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
A Certificate of Journeyman Carpenter Trades Qualification authorized by the Province of British Columbia
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and installation specifications
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to interact and work with others effectively
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Capacity to use relevant machines and equipment
