Job Description: Cook II, Temporary Call-In position at DHT Food Service, Doctor Hugh Twomey Health Centre, Botwood, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Cook II, Temporary Call-In

About the Job:

• Familiar with preparing cooked and baked goods for residents and staff, as well as between meal refreshments.
• May act as a lead worker in preparing, cooking and serving meals.
• Meals prepared include regular and special diets.
• Must demonstrate awareness of and responsibility for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care.
• Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with team members to improve worker and patient safety.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly moves/lifts up to 10-25lbs, occasionally moves/lifts 25-50+lbs.
• Constantly stands/walks, with regular reaching/stretching, bending/twisting and low level postures.
• Exposure to loud noises in certain work environments, with personal protective equipment required.
• Potential exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens in publicly accessible areas.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
• Completion of a Commercial Cooking course approved by Central Health.
• Demonstrated experience as a general duty cook in a large scale commercial or institutional operation.
• Consistent demonstration of NL Health Services values: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence.
• Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance.
• Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from a local police authority.

Working Conditions:

• Shift work may be required.
• Call-in as needed.
