About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Food Preparation Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing fresh, high-quality food for patients, clients, and customers in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food to order, following established recipes and food safety guidelines
  • Measure and portion ingredients accurately to ensure consistent quality and presentation
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient food preparation and service
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to patient and customer needs in a professional and courteous manner

Requirements:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent
  • Recognized Food Safety and Sanitation Course required or willingness to obtain within six months
  • One (1) year related experience in a food preparation or service role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently
  • Physical capability to perform duties of position, including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $24.00 and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and life insurance, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
