ABOUT THE ROLE
Fort McKay First Nation is seeking a motivated individual with strong communications skills to fill the position of Arena Operator. Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Arena Operations, the Arena Operator will be responsible for the daily operation of the arena, youth centre, playgrounds and baseball field. The incumbent will be responsible for performing various administrative and technical duties to plan, facilitate and oversee daily operation and maintenance. This is a full-time permanent position based on a 7 on, 7 off shift rotation, located in Fort McKay, AB.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Assist in the installation, maintenance and breakdown of arena ice surface. Supervises Junior Arena Operators in the cleaning and maintenance of the seating areas, locker rooms and auxiliary areas. Prepares for and assists with special events, such as tournaments and clinics. Assist managers to oversee maintenance of playgrounds, baseball fields and Youth Centre. Monitor arena ammonia refrigeration system. Perform daily ice plant room checks. Ensure the arena facility meets the expectations of the community and those renting ice time in the facility. Supervise on-ice activity during Public and Open skate times. Operate and perform routine or minor maintenance on the Zamboni and other equipment. Follow the proper building maintenance procedures and health and safety conditions. Inspects buildings and equipment to determine repair and improvement needs. Maintain inventory of tools. Check all HVAC equipment for proper operations and daily preventative maintenance. Mentoring of Junior Arena Operators. Assist the manager to ensure assets (arena building, playgrounds, ballfield and Youth Centre) are managed following the OH&S codes and standards. Responsible for daily communicating all pertinent information regarding system operations and maintenance to the Arena Operations Supervisor. Required to interpret and understand plans and specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals etc.. for systems being overseen. Other related duties as assigned. KEY REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous supervisory experience and leading work. Arena Operator 1 and 2 qualification. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.Experience working with an Ammonia Refrigeration Plant is required. Certified in First Aid and CPR is required.Basic computer skills are requiredA valid Class Five (5) driver's licence is an asset. A clean criminal record check is required. Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset.WHY APPLY?
