Job Summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist (PhD) to join our team in the Medical/Surgical and Cancer Care, Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, intervention, teaching, research, and consultative services to patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment and interventions, including psychotherapy, risk assessments, and treatment recommendations to other members of the team and other healthcare providers.
  • Deliver programming with other members of the Multi-Organ Transplant Program to patients living with Advanced Liver disease.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Conduct research and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology with a strong rehabilitation or clinical health psychology background.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP).
  • A minimum of 2 years training and experience working in rehabilitation and organ transplant programs.
  • Familiarity with behavioral or rehabilitation programming, surgical candidacy assessment, and other clinical health psychology assessments and interventions.
  • Formal training and clinical experience conducting brief in-patient psychological assessments, psychological interventions, and consultation.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in formulating and implementing treatment plans.
  • Self-directed in practice with an ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in program evaluation and clinical research.
