About the role

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during engine strip and build on the CFM56 engine line
    • Responsible for addressing and resolving Material Review Board (MRB) requests and other technical discrepancies (snags, engineering service request, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain the Lockheed Martin Commercial Engine Solutions (LMCES) Workscope Planning Guide documents
  • Manage Service Bulletin (SB) review process
  • Provide support to the Configuration Control Specialist during the publication review process
  • Lead in the financial analysis and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Initiates and manages the analysis of engine's components damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modelling of engines components including testing. Specific engineering specialties may include structural dynamics, simulation, burst margin, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include FEM modelling, CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer
  • Experience with aircraft propulsion and engine systems and troubleshooting, eligible for, or work towards, Power Plant Design Engineer (DE)/Design Engineer Specialist (DES) designation, Transport Canada (TC) or Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) delegate/designee or Design Approval Representative (DAR) or Designated Engineering Representative (DER) is an asset
  • Designs or recommends new or modified parts and components (Part Manufacturing Authorization (PMA)/DER); Certification of engine parts by testing & analysis meeting airworthiness authorities requirements (Transport Canada's Civil Aviation (TCCA), FAA & European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)); Directs establishment of structural specifications, performance of stress analysis and performance testing.

What you bring to the role

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree. Equivalent experience may be acceptable if candidate has strong pertinent background and strong analytical skills
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in similar position, or equivalent experience
  • Experience on engine ATA 72 with know-how on components (Life limited Parts (LLPs), Fan frame, High Pressure Compressor (HPC), High Pressure Turbine (HPT), Low Pressure Turbine (LPT), Exhaust, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) & accessories) functionality, inspection as well as failure modes and corrections
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Sound judgment and initiative
  • Ability to multitask and work without direct supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Willingness to be on call and to work extended hours including weekends
  • Fleet experience on propulsion systems, is an asset
  • Ability to summarize, Organizational planning and Problem solver
  • Organizational skills and Tolerance to Stress
  • Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Fluent in French and English.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Quantum Control experience is an asset
  • Experience in handling technical aspects of maintenance repairs of aero engines in an MRO is an asset
  • Experience in handling and troubleshooting engine problems is an asset.
