Central Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with family physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team, providing psychiatric services to patients in a community-based setting. The psychiatrist will share clinic space with 1-2 other psychiatrists and will be responsible for:

• Providing triage, assessment, and management of psychiatric patients
• Sharing on-call duties for the local emergency department and consultation liaison services for non-psychiatric inpatients
• Facilitating patient stabilization and transfer to Grand Falls-Windsor, as needed

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must:

• Be eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
• Satisfy credentialing requirements of Central Health
• Have a satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
• Hold a Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a salaried locum rate for 56 days, followed by a fee-for-service compensation package. The exact compensation will be determined based on the Memorandum of Agreement and Department of Health MCP Billing.
