Indigenous Bail Caseworker position available at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, working with Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients in the Bail Verification Supervision Program.

Salary: $60,000 per annum

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Bail Court orders and monitor bail release conditions.
  • Provide support to clients using a culturally appropriate approach.
  • Work within an interdisciplinary social justice team.

Requirements:

  • Postsecondary diploma/degree in Social Justice Services or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Bail Verification and Supervision Programs in Ontario.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history.
  • Understanding of probation and parole officers, jail, correctional centres, community resources, treatment and detention centres.
  • Ability to articulate criminal and social justice issues.
  • Excellent case and file management skills, stress management and time management skills.
  • Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport.
  • Superior analytical and decision making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
