Procurement Buyer Role

The Procurement Buyer is responsible for managing procurement activities for assigned faculties/admin units, providing advice and education on procurement best practices, and building strong relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Coordination: Works with faculty/admin units and procurement partners to understand and fulfill procurement activities, provides critical assessment and guidance, resolves problems with end users and suppliers, and demonstrates the procurement function as an effective resource.
  • Project Coordination: Manages small to medium procurement projects, provides procurement advice and direction, oversees project activities, and prepares reports to support project costs and key performance indicators.
  • Administration: Ensures procurement activities are in compliance with regulations and laws, monitors and expedites open purchase orders, reviews requisitions, and prepares and maintains accurate records and documentation.
Requirements
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and demonstrate a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Two-year diploma in Purchasing Management or equivalent.
  • Working towards the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or equivalent designation.
  • ERP experience, working knowledge of the end-to-end procurement cycle, prior commercial purchasing experience, customer service experience, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
