Responsible for ensuring patient meal services are prepared, prethermalized and delivered in an efficient, safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

About the Role

The Food Service Supervisor is a key member of the Food Services team at West Park Healthcare Centre, responsible for overseeing the preparation and delivery of patient meals. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adequate staff resources are scheduled and assigned to meet patient meal service needs.
  • Supervise staff in various activities, including food portioning, dish room operations, and meal delivery.
  • Accountable for belt line output, including checking trays for accuracy and temperature control.
  • Visit patients and their families to ensure understanding and satisfaction with meal services.
  • Communicate with nursing staff on patient-related issues and operational requirements.
  • Review and analyze production and tally sheets to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Ongoing development of staff, including orientation and retraining.
Requirements
  • Community College Diploma in Food Service Supervision required.
  • Canadian Food Handler's Certification required upon hire and every five years.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage conflict.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Computrition software preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
