Job SummaryThe Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties, ensuring the Pharmacist has the opportunity to focus on patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Receiving prescriptions from patients, assessing for completeness, and prioritizing according to 21st Century Guidelines.
- Performing computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, price checks, and patient information updates.
- Filling prescriptions under the Pharmacist's supervision, selecting products, performing accuracy checks, and labeling and organizing for pharmacist checking.
- Maintaining inventory control, assisting the Pharmacist in maintaining stock levels, and checking for expired medications.
- General housekeeping, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Clerical organization, filing prescriptions, invoices, and reports, and completing administrative support functions.
- Assisting with OTC operations, ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a pharmacy or related field an asset.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy software.
