    Sudbury, Ontario, Canada is one of the most geologically rich areas of the world. This northern city in the Canadian Shield boasts a 60-kilometre-long formation called the Sudbury basin, which is brimming with nickel, copper, cobalt, gold, silver, platinum and palladium deposits. It's also been home to Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations (Sudbury INO) since 1929. Our Sudbury operations include exploration, underground mines, a mill and a smelter, and Onaping Depth, a deep mine project at Craig Mine , all located in this basin. We currently employ more than 1, 2 00 permanent employees and support another 1,200 contractors.

    The Opportunity

    We are currently seeking a Mine Engineer to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

    The position will be based at Fraser Mine.

    This is a 12 Month Contract position.

    Duties and Accountabilities:

    Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the Mine Engineer is accountable for the delivery of all technical services for the mine and maintaining optimal short and long term business plans. Supervision of a technical group consisting of mine planning, ventilation, surveying and ground control is included. In addition, the incumbent must efficiently coordinate activities through external resources such as Central Engineering and various consulting firms.

    About You

    The desired candidate has four to seven years' experience with strong practical and computer skills in mine design, scheduling and budgeting as well as exposure to ground control, industrial engineering and improvement projects. Strong leadership and communication skills are a requirement for this position. Operations Supervision and Mine feasibility experience would also be a definite asset as well as exposure to narrow vein mining methods. This is a hands-on position that requires a decisive individual with a high level of initiative who can harness these traits to work effectively within a team environment.

    Education

    Mine Engineers in Training with valuable experience will also be considered.

    Applicant must be eligible or registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
