Job Summary: We are seeking an Engineering Technologist to provide technical support and expertise in the Overhead Supervision section of the Streetcar Infrastructure Department, working nights with Saturday/Sunday as off days. Job Description: The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is North America's third largest transit system, guided by a forward-thinking strategic plan. We are looking for an Engineering Technologist to join our team in the Overhead Supervision section of the Streetcar Infrastructure Department. Key Responsibilities: • Provide technical support and expertise to those involved in the procurement, inspections, diagnoses & repairs, overhaul, rebuilding, and support all operating systems associated with the area • Conduct operational tests, quality inspections, technical problem solving and quality assurance activities • Diagnose, correct and eliminate non-routine complex failures on area specific systems; investigate and correct unusual, difficult or repeating problems on equipment • Diagnose and coordinate repairs on equipment, systems or structures; ensure stabilization of failures and determines the cause; ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards • Ensure equipment, systems or structures are fully operational by coordinating and/or performing relevant checks, and other relevant inspections • Prepare various written reports, test reports, modification instructions, repair and diagnosis techniques, and analyses Requirements: • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent • OACETT certification as an Engineering Technologist is considered an asset • Comprehensive knowledge of the Streetcar and Overhead Contract Systems, electrical, electronic, computerized and mechanical equipment • Sound knowledge of overhead contact systems/pantograph principles, circuitry, and government regulations, safety regulations and procedures, legislation and standards applicable to the work of the Overhead section • Technical report writing skills combined with basic technical design skills in the areas of mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance and construction • Proficiency in the use of relevant computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite) and must have or be able to quickly acquire an ability to use systems such as Maximo, Visio and VHLC • Sound judgment; good organizational, analytical, problem solving skills, and effective oral communication skills • Good research skills and the ability to apply project management concepts and practices • Requires a Province of Ontario non-probationary Class 'G' driver's license, and may be required to use personal vehicle on occasion to travel to work sites.
