About the Role

Spectrum Health Care is seeking highly skilled and compassionate Personal Support Workers to join our team. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personalized care and support to our patients, enabling them to recover safely from an acute illness or remain in their homes throughout the aging process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Care and Support: Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, and feeding, in personal residences or facilities.
  • Assessment and Communication: Continuously assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of patients, and communicate available resources to patients when appropriate.
  • Task Delegation: Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Travel and Mobility: Staff are required to travel within assigned regions between patients' residences or facilities.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Have one of the following qualifications (required):
    • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program.
    • RN/RPN Student who has completed a minimum of one year of the program.
    • Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
  • Physical Ability: Physical ability to meet the demands of the job, including the ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach freely for extended periods, and the ability to lift 23 kg independently.
  • Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.
  • Certifications: Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR, Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check, and Updated TB Test (last 12 months).
  • Communication Skills: Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (Additional language skills considered an asset).
