About the Role

This part-time position (20 hours per week) requires a skilled Recreation Therapist to provide top-notch resident care, with a focus on time management and exceptional leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide recreation therapy services to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Develop and implement recreation programs and services that promote resident engagement and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure resident care plans are met and exceeded.
  • Supervise and coordinate recreation care partner planning and scheduling, including overtime and time off approval.
  • Exhibit excellent customer relations, being courteous, caring, understanding, compassionate, and respectful to all care partners.
  • Monitor and continuously improve the quality of recreation services and programs.
  • Enforce emergency management plans, infection control protocols, WHMIS, and health and safety standards.
Requirements
  • As of April 2021, a Degree in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, or Recreation Administration is required.
  • Registered with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) is required.
  • Experience in recreation programs and providing recreation therapist services is required.
  • Supervision/leadership/educator/facilitation/resolution/investigation experience is required.
  • Experience with proven performance in clinical practice is required.
  • A clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check is required prior to employment.
