Main Responsibilities

  • Elicit and analyze business requirements from clients to develop effective GIS solutions
  • Evaluate existing and proposed processes and systems to drive design and development of enhancements and new GIS solutions
  • Configure out-of-the-box and develop custom GIS solutions leveraging the City's ESRI platform
  • Facilitate discussions with GIS users to identify challenges and develop procedures and standards
  • Develop and implement strategies for encouraging data governance best practices and adoption of standards
  • Provide technical assistance and serve as a resource for GIS solution products, data visualization, and GIS analysis
  • Plan, document, and execute GIS solution implementation, including rollback strategies and coordination with other teams
  • Estimate time and cost of research, analysis, and development activities and report progress to management
  • Prepare and maintain user and operations documentation to ensure service levels can be measured and achieved
  • Stay current with developments in GIS, spatial analysis, programming languages, and data visualization tools

Requirements

  • Completion of a university degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or GIS
  • 3 years of experience with implementation and maintenance of ESRI GIS solutions, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Advanced skills in ESRI ArcGIS Pro, including extensions such as Spatial or Network Analyst
  • Strong skills with ESRI geodatabases, geodatabase modeling, and data warehouses
  • Strong SQL skills in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to all levels of the organization and establish effective working relationships
