We're looking for a talented Planning Technician to join our team in a role available to candidates based in Calgary or Edmonton.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Planning Technician you will work within our Visualization Studio to help prepare technical plans, quality maps and visual communication materials. You will be called upon to assist in the preparation of planning documents, manage digital files, and assemble other elements such as legal maps and titles. You will use your experience to work closely with our team of planners, urban designers, and engagement specialists to help deliver incredible results for our clients and communities. Some key responsibilities within the role include:

  • Create plans, figures, and graphics using AutoCAD and other software tools.
  • An emphasis on aesthetics/graphic mapping, and attention to detail is important.
  • Perform data management, statistical analysis, and technical support tasks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project goals, such as our Visualization, GIS, and Design Studios.
  • Connect with project managers and effectively communicate (verbally and written) to help generate solutions and positive outcomes.
  • Utilize your knowledge of planning, standards, and best-practices to creatively assist in the crafting of unique places and spaces across Canada.
  • Utilize skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office for project tasks.
  • Experience in M-Color, Lumion, ArcGIS, Rhino, or SketchUp is considered an asset.

ABOUT YOU

You are an ideal candidate for this role if you have a two-year diploma in Urban and Regional Planning, a Certified Planning Technician (CPT) designation, Civil Engineering Technologist, Architectural Technologist, or a related professional qualification, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a consulting environment. You excel at communicating concepts through AutoCAD and similar software and have an understanding of the land development process, with experience in urban planning or civil engineering being an asset. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with project managers to effectively manage priorities and drive project success. Your commitment to high performance and accountability will ensure success as a Planning Technician.
