About L3Harris WESCAM

As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical and sensor systems for global defense and military sectors, Homeland Security, Search and Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies.

Responsibilities

  1. Architect, design, develop, document and verify software for electro-optical surveillance systems.
  2. Provide support to Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Support teams to solve software issues.
  3. Participate in the estimation and planning of new products and features.
  4. Participate as a software team member within an Agile development process.
  5. Represent Software Engineering in company product development reviews.
  6. Review the software contributions of other team members.
  7. Mentor and guide junior staff.

Required Skills

  1. Experience designing software for embedded microprocessors using C/C++.
  2. Strong knowledge of embedded C and C++ software architecture for real-time systems.
  3. Demonstrated ability to architect complex software systems.
  4. Demonstrated ability to research, design and implement complex algorithms.
  5. Familiarity with both Windows and Linux as host operating systems.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of modern software design practices like Object Oriented design and Patterns.
  7. Ability to understand the operation, design and control of complex electro-mechanical systems.
  8. Proven track record for creating innovative solutions to difficult problems on budget and on time.
  9. Strong knowledge of modern source code management.
  10. Proven track record for developing software within an Agile software process.
  11. Good understanding of the ISO 12207 software development standard.
  12. Strong knowledge of embedded communications standards such as I2C, SPI, CAN, Serial, Ethernet.
  13. Strong knowledge of Avionic communication standards such as 1553, Arinc-429.
  14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  15. Ability to learn and grow within a fast paced environment.
  16. Experience developing for embedded ARM processors.
  17. Experience targeting real time operating systems such as vxWorks or Threadx.
  18. Experience targeting embedded Linux.
  19. Familiarity with GPU processor coding an asset.
  20. Familiarity with FPGA/RTL/SoC design experience and methodology an asset.
  21. Familiarity with electro-mechanical and optical sensors or lasers is an asset.
  22. Good working knowledge of Matlab an asset.

Education Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or
  2. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or
  3. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
