Posting SummaryRutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Temporary Research Assistant will assist in research on the lab grant deliverables. Incumbent will review, provide quality control, and analyze study data.
Key Duties- Works under the direction of the PI or his/her designee. Responsible for executing laboratory tasks as outlined by the Principal Investigator or a senior member of laboratory team.
- Performs functions as directed for experiments that are proposed in the grant, under the direction of the principal investigator and other designated lab members.
- Maintains department database on a computer. Candidate must have competent computer skills and be able to utilize equipment and technology in support of the assigned project(s).
- Must possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to summarize scientific research process and communicate project findings.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’s compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Interest policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science is preferred.
- One (1) year of related research/project experience is preferred.
- Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.
- No special vision requirements.
- Lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Lab environment.
- Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.
- Universal precautions are mandatory.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
