Position: 058 058 Electrical/Electronics Test Technician I (Labour Group 7)

Qualifications: Must have attained a two (2) year diploma program related to either Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering Technician diploma.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Inspecting all types of low and high voltage electrical circuits, equipment, and motors in all commercial products, without instruction or supervision.
  2. Checking out and testing for the function of electrical equipment on commercial products at component, system, and train level.
  3. Performing dielectric and continuity tests as well as component system level testing activities.
  4. Operating trains on test track without supervision.
  5. Troubleshooting, correcting errors, and having full knowledge of wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and analog and logic circuits.
  6. Removing and replacing interior paneling to gain access if required.
  7. Replacing any faulty or defective part during testing.
  8. Re-terminating wires and cables as instructed.
  9. Applying and/or confirming torque connections in test.
  10. Completing and maintaining accurate records, both manual and computer-based, related to above activities.
  11. Instructing other Quality Resource personnel and signing out completed vehicle documentation.
  12. Supporting the build of test harnesses and equipment required for routine tests.

Applications to vacancies in this classification will be subject to a qualification examination provided and evaluated by the company. An evaluation grade of 70% will be required for acceptance. The examination will consist of both practical and written components. Employees who have previously held the classification will be exempt from examination.
