Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Oil & Gas Sector

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 CAD + Excellent Benefits

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our clients dynamic team in the oil & gas sector. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative electrical systems for large-scale EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the 2D and 3D design of complex electrical systems and schemes.
  • Develop and review technical documentation, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.
  • Design and integrate switchgear, motor control centers, and power distribution systems.
  • Create and optimize control system architectures, including PLCs, SCADA, and DCS.
  • Design HMI interfaces for efficient system monitoring and control.
  • Implement safety systems such as emergency shutdown (ESD) and fire and gas detection systems.
  • Conduct load flow studies, short circuit calculations, and motor starting analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEMA)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design for heavy engineering projects
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and 3D modeling tools.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and motor control centers.
  • Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or DIgSILENT).
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems design.
  • Understanding of hazardous area classification and equipment selection.
