Our client is a top financial institution with significant North American holdings. They have operations across most major verticals, including institutional & corporate, wealth management, private client, commercial banking, treasury, and retail banking.

Introduction: Robertson is seeking a skilled Underwriter to join our client.

Contract Dates: 12 months
Pay Rates:
IC: $36.69 per hour
T4: $30.76 per hour
Business Hours: Monday to Friday

Job Responsibilities:
  • Accurately analyze group characteristics and input plan design detail, employee data, premium, claims and rate history in PlanLink to create an attractive, professional new business proposal within the stated turnaround time of 24 hours
  • Possess strong knowledge of group benefits to interpret Advisor specifications or current carrier contracts to fit Manulife’s plan design features
  • Review final proposal output including rates to ensure accuracy and responsibility of final action
  • Provide underwriting decisions through clear verbal and written communications
  • Conduct constructive negotiations utilizing underwriting judgment and guidelines
  • Evaluate and act on risk propositions
  • Provide value added underwriting and benefit recommendations to maximize the clients' group benefit spend

Experience & Qualification Requirements:
  • Strong Mathematical Aptitude – candidate will be converting percentage to factors, applying multiple percentage adjustments onto a rate etc.
  • PC Skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel (ability to apply basic formulas, intermediate)
  • 1-2 years previous experience in a customer service-oriented role - demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to negotiate with Advisors, Account Executives and Head office partners
  • Ability to handle high volumes, fluctuating workloads and multiple priorities within set time constraints
