The Opportunity
As Senior Production Designer, working on the labels and packaging team, you will be responsible for package design, templating, creating print-ready files, and uploading files to vendors while adhering to brand standards and Health Canada guidelines. The role also includes the creation and editing of image assets for the provincial boards.
The role will champion unwavering attention to the craft of execution, while being part of a team and culture that has agility at the core of everything it does.
Responsibilities
- Design, or execute on existing designs, print labels for all product packaging following strict Health Canada guidelines.
- Ensure compliance of the brand identities, appropriately and consistently using logos, font, and colour palettes creatively across a range of media (print, website).
- Make various formats of supplied artwork print-ready and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production.
- Remain abreast of Health Canada’s labeling regulations.
- Design and prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing.
- Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time.
- Work with and respect given dielines and templates as well as dieline and template creation.
- Review and approve printer supplied production proofs.
- Provide image retouching, clipping paths, smart objects and additional image manipulation including resizing images to meet provincial standards for upload.
- Take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Post-secondary diploma in graphic design or a direct related field.
- 5+ years working experience in visual identity and communications, graphic design, editorial design, advertising, digital design and development, typography, and production, including multimedia, digital design and production.
- Superior skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) as well as in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent production skills; experience in photo manipulation and colour correction, file preparation, layout, edits and corrections, and digital, large format and offset print preparation.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict guidelines.
- A true team player with a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude.
- Solid communication skills and capable of working well with a wide range of people across multiple disciplines.
- Excellent organizational, time management, attention to detail, problem solving, and solutions-oriented.
- Flexible and able to adapt to peak volume, rushed orders, changing timelines and priorities while maintaining a keen eye for detail and quality.
- Ability to recognize and innovate better ways to accomplish production and creative objectives.
