We are currently searching for a Dietary Aide to join our team. This is a (part-time, day) shift position at our Schonsee location.

Position Summary:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner. The Dietary Aide must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment, while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. Dietary Aides must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace, follow all safety procedures, and have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment.

What You Bring to the Role:
  • Formal training in a culinary program considered an asset.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen required.
  • Strong written and verbal English skills to effectively communicate with all residents, visitors and at all levels within the organization required.
  • Experience cooking for seniors an asset.
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, WHMIS, Food Safety.
  • Basic food safety is required.
  • Possess proper knife skills.
  • Familiar with use of kitchen equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to follow recipes.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Ability to work in an infectious disease outbreak environment and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
  • Clear criminal record check completed a maximum of three (3) months prior to the ‘date of hire’ required.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Prepare all food (hot and cold) as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Retrieve food from off-site kitchen and prepare plates for residents.
  • Prepare dishes for residents with food allergies or intolerances and adhere to all dietary requirements of the residents.
  • Follow portion controls and presentation specifications as set by the Head Chef.
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
  • Ensure beverages and condiments are restocked and prepared for all meals.
  • Bring unused, leftover food back to the main off-site kitchen.
  • Wash all dishes between meal periods and adhere to proper sanitization protocols.
  • Clean and maintain stations while practicing food safety, sanitation, organizational skills.
  • Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
