About the Company

Our client, a prominent law firm is seeking a Litigation Law Clerk to join their team in Toronto. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and possess a keen understanding of legal procedures and documentation in complex litigation cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management and organization of complex litigation files, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to deadlines.
  • Prepare, review, and file a variety of legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and discovery requests.
  • Coordinate court filings and ensure all necessary documents are submitted in compliance with procedural rules. Maintain and update court schedules, deadlines, and court appearances.
  • Manage discovery processes, including reviewing and organizing documents, preparing document briefs, and assisting in the exchange of information.
  • Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and experts, providing updates and assisting with client inquiries.
  • Conduct legal research as needed, including case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to ongoing cases.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, trial binders, and briefing notes, and attending trials as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Law Clerk Diploma or Paralegal Certification from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in complex litigation, commercial litigation, or class actions.
  • Strong understanding of litigation processes, the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure, and court filing requirements.
  • Proficient with legal research tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and case management software.
