You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for:

  1. Delivery of engineering services for a variety of Strategic and Sustainable Capital projects.
  2. Preparing, design changes, procurement engineering evaluations, item equivalency evaluations, and reviewing deliverables from external organizations.

Specific Accountabilities:

  1. Provides technical evaluations, advice and solves problems in a number of major work areas. In support of design, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the facilities.
  2. Receives assignments from Supervision as well as identifies potential problems and opportunities in assigned areas and/or systems in the facility.
  3. Prepares as required, equipment specifications, engineering calculations, installation, testing, operating and maintenance procedures and the like.
  4. Discusses installation or implementation with persons concerned, and ensures, where possible, that the installation is as intended.
  5. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field and incorporates as appropriate.
  6. Prepares specifications for purchasing requisitions for material, services, and equipment.
  7. Follows up with supply chain and provides necessary technical services during field installation.
  8. Prepares recommendations for spare parts requirements for new equipment.
  9. May be required to gather and collate data for use in department/section budget or business planning preparation and to monitor variances to the annual budget and submits to Supervisor for reporting purposes.
  10. Prepares modification deliverables such as design plans, conceptual engineering reports, design change packages, design change notices, FMEA, calculations, and requirement tractability matrices.
  11. Prepare Procurement Engineering Evaluations on CAT IDs as assigned by section manager or delegate.
  12. Prepare Item Equivalency Evaluations on CAT IDs as assigned by section manager or delegate.
  13. Manages margins when preparing engineered deliverables.
  14. Performs other duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

  1. Familiar with pressure boundary codes associated with CSA N285.0-08.
  2. Experience with CANDU technology and design.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  4. Familiar with the EPRI standards related to Procurement Engineering.

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:

  1. Completion of a 4-year University degree in Mechanical Engineering and by being a CEAB (Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board) graduate or a non-CEAB graduate with verified academic credentials.
  2. Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) within the Province of Ontario.
  3. A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years’ experience is considered necessary.
  4. Must have previous experience preparing, verifying, and approving Procurement Engineering Evaluations and Item Equivalency Evaluations. Sample work or other supporting proof is required.
