Responsibilities:
- Designing Data Center Infrastructure: Develop and design data center infrastructure solutions that align with the organization's strategic goals and operational needs.
- Create comprehensive plans for server, storage, networking, and virtualization environments within the data center.
- Implementing Solutions: Oversee the implementation and deployment of data center infrastructure projects. Ensure adherence to best practices, standards, and security policies during implementation.
- Capacity Planning and Optimization: Conduct capacity planning to ensure scalability and efficiency of data center resources. Optimize existing infrastructure to improve performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Security and Compliance: Implement security measures to protect data center assets against cybersecurity threats. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) related to data management and security.
- Monitoring and Maintenance: Establish monitoring systems to track the performance and health of data center components. Develop maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams (IT operations, network engineering, etc.) and external vendors to achieve project objectives.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of data center architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. Generate reports on data center performance, capacity utilization, and future growth projections.
- Develop the enterprise technology architecture (ETA) and ensure that it is leveraged: Develops road maps describing the evolution of all enterprise technology portfolios from current state to future state; Analyzes enterprise business context (trends and business strategy), as well as change requirements in other EA viewpoints, to derive the ETA change requirements to guide technology decisions for the enterprise.
Requirements:
- 7 - 10 years experience in network and data center architecture, as well as application development methodologies.
- Significant practical experience with IT applications, in particular experience with application and technical architectures. Significant practical experience in designing and implementing enterprise systems. Significant experience in analysis, design and programming.
- Experience in a senior architectural position, managing a team of architects as well as experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Project level experience in the full lifecycle of technology implementation and configuration and effective understanding of trade-off analysis.
- Experience in project solution architecture and exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
- Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting. Basic knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes as well as basic knowledge of information principles and policies.
- Understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, or client/server systems and an understanding of the enterprise's political climate and how to respond to the political challenges.
- Autonomous and self motivated with experience defining and executing a large-scale business and IT strategy.
