Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Senior Structural Technician REVIT Modeller to join our growing Canadian Operations. To be successful, you must have a minimum of 8 years of structural design (REVIT) experience in rail, stations, and transportation facilities Projects. The Senior Structural REVIT Modeller will cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional team leads across Ontario, Canada, North America, and GHD’s global network.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  1. Preparation of structural drawings and details from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures for a wide variety of steel and concrete structures including shallow and deep foundations, transit stations, treatment plants, pump and transfer stations, processing facilities, and push and retaining walls.
  2. Working in various procurement strategies such as Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build environments to advance structural design packages.
  3. Mentoring and supervising junior and developing Techs.
  4. Following BIM Execution Plan and BIM project requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  5. Providing support and training to junior and developing Techs on project BIM standards and procedures.
  6. Adhering to GHD BIM standards and procedures and implementing compliance on the project level.
  7. Providing input into BIM scope, schedule, and budget when required.
  8. Quantity take-offs.
  9. Producing consistent, high-quality structural deliverables.
  10. Communication with structural leads, designers, and project team members on a regular basis to ensure an effective and timely flow of project information to meet scheduled deadlines.
  11. Participating, when required, in the advancement of GHD Standard Structural Details and BIM Standards including promoting changes, mentoring on updates to tools and methods, and assisting with training development and lessons learned exercises.
What you will bring to the team:
  1. Technician/Technologist with a Civil Engineering Technology diploma and with a background in Civil or Structural Engineering is considered an asset.
  2. 8 years of design/drafting standards, practice, and techniques experience. (Mandatory)
  3. Superior attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  4. High proficiency with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  5. Knowledge of Navisworks, Dynamo, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Plant 3D is considered an asset.
  6. Good understanding of the level of effort required to complete the work.
  7. Positive attitude, good communication, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Competency/expertise in REVIT and BIM Collaboration tools (ProjectWise, BIM 360) (Mandatory).
  9. Strong communication skills for team-based working environments and for teaching project teams about standard methodologies in BIM/CAD.
  10. Ability to interact with external entities to interpret and understand BIM/CAD requirements and BIM scope.
  11. Ability to work on multiple parallel projects and within a team environment.
