We are recruiting on behalf of a leading trading firm expanding its presence in Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to play a pivotal role in building the firm's project management structure and governance model.


Initially, this role will be fully remote, transitioning to a hybrid model (2–3 days in the office) once their Toronto office is established.


Job Summary


As a Project Manager, you will focus on developing and implementing a project structure that drives efficiency, consistency, and clarity across the organisation. This role requires someone with extensive experience in project management methodologies, particularly agile, and a passion for establishing robust frameworks and processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a project structure and management model that aligns with organisational goals.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop governance frameworks and templates to standardise project processes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including technology, operations, and business stakeholders, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Foster a culture of agility and collaboration within project teams.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively.
  • Communicate project updates, milestones, and challenges to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Continuously improve project processes, leveraging best practices and lessons learned.


Required Qualifications


  • At least 4 years of experience in pure project management, with a proven track record of establishing and managing project structures and frameworks.
  • Experience must include significant work in a trading technology team with a global remit. This can be in capital markets, with a strong preference for derivatives or commodities trading.
  • Strong expertise in agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and project governance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or MS Project.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field.


Desired Qualifications


  • Familiarity with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems.
  • Project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
  • Experience in change management and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
