PurposeSupports mining and mining operations across Newmont - Porcupine surface operations, inclusive of Hollinger, Pamour and Dome properties, by carrying out define surveys tasks in a safe and timely manner
Make a positive contribution to a surface survey team that works effectively and efficiently with other departments
Safety and Sustainability Expectations
- Become familiar with and actively promote the Fatality Risk Management by demonstrating consistent and thorough quality field level risk assessments on the daily safety card. As well as participating in the FRM morning huddle safety discussions.
- Be proactive with respect to safety. Report, and correct where safely possible, all unsafe work conditions as soon as they are identified.
- Accountable for own health and safety performance as well as wellbeing of those in the workplace.
- Support the survey team by completing of day to day surface survey tasks, when necessary, including
- Pattern layouts and dig toe pick-ups
- Grade checks (dumps, ramps, floors, stockpiles, etc)
- Lay out no digs and dump limits
- Restricted area mark-ups
- Data processing
- Drone flights
- C-Als Surveys
- Plan and prioritize all survey task in a suitable manner to safely avoid operational delays.
- Provide accurate processed surveys to the end users of the data.
- Provide timely notification of any data anomalies when processing survey data pertaining to monitoring of
- infrastructure and equipment performance including overpass road base, gabion wall position, proper
- sloping of haul road, drill accuracy.
- Maintain survey equipment in good working order, and report any functionality issues to the Lead Surveyor.
- Ensure survey data is kept up to date and readily available for all mining related activities.
- Carry out high quality survey tasks to prevent rework or miscommunication.
- Support accurate completion of month end survey requirements in a timely manner.
- Assist with other survey-related task as outlined by the Lead Surveyor.
- A Technician or Technologist Diploma in mining or civil engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years' of survey experience. Mine operation survey experience is preferred.
- Be technically competent and have a good understanding of Surface survey techniques and practices.
- Able to work collaboratively within small teams and communicate with other departments.
- Be focused and self-motivated.
- Strong computer skills. Familiarity with Pix4D, Pointstudio, AutoCad, Deswik would be considered an asset.
This is a site based position located in Timmns, ON
12 HR work days on a 5-5-4 rotation
