We are seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Lead with expertise in Agile methodologies and scaling to join our forward-thinking team. As a Delivery Lead, you will take the helm of a Delivery Team or POD, oversee development projects, and ensure the successful implementation of Agile practices. You will lead a team of talented developers, guide them through complex technical challenges, and drive innovation in software development, while ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:- Demonstrate strong capability to run initiatives in a scaled environment, where there are multiple teams and verticals working.
- Lead large scale programs with set budgets and timelines.
- Lead a squad/POD with multiple teams and competing priorities involved, being responsible for all interconnected projects within a Squad/Pod.
- Plan and manage large-scale development and implementation programs to ensure that the programs' business objectives and stakeholder needs and expectations are met.
- Exhibit strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
- Possess strong knowledge of Agile Methodologies and best practices in Delivery, being able to join other teams to support when needed.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning).
- Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution. Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved.
- Be an expert in estimating and planning, creating useful, reliable, and practical plans for software development projects.
- Have a background in Microservice development to guide the team, solve technical challenges, and make informed decisions.
- Bring in technical expertise or productive discussions with the already acquired technical skills in software development with Architects and Technical leads.
- Guide and participate with the team to get to educated estimates with the technical background and solution design experience.
- Work with a team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments, being accountable for tracking and removing them to enable the team.
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of project risks.
- Conduct regular assessments of a team's Agile Maturity and use the results to guide them to improved performance.
- Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed and project status.
- Be responsible for project and portfolio level reporting for all initiatives/projects; includes tracking, status reporting, executive dashboards, etc.
- Demonstrate flexibility/adaptability in exercising judgment in a changing environment and manage competing priorities.
- Exhibit exceptional leadership skills to review processes and procedures to create efficiencies and eliminate duplication.
- Maintain strong relationship management with an ability to establish productive relationships between various leaders, departments, and partners across the organization.
- Be accountable for the overall planning, execution, management, and delivery of projects to ensure delivery on the business strategy and project objectives.
- Oversee all project activities and team members for assigned projects to ensure project goals and objectives are accomplished within approved time frames, scope, and budget.
- Prepare and maintain a project plan and schedule that accurately reflects the critical path tasks, time estimates, dependencies, and resources associated with each task.
- Track and report project progress against requirements and project objectives throughout the project life cycle, regularly communicating status to project stakeholders.
- Manage project risks and issues proactively by identification, assessment, ongoing management and reporting of project risks and issues.
- Exhibit good content creation and presentation skills that are concise and clear to convey messages to all audiences.
- Manage and collaborate with control functions and business units as appropriate and work with external partners where needed.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders from IT and Business areas.
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master and Delivery Lead with a minimum of 7+ years of hands-on development experience.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and ticketing tools like Service Now.
- Experience working in a scaled model.
- Certification in one of the scaled methodologies; SAFe, LeSS, S@S, Nexus.
- Hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches.
- Understanding of backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban based metrics, task definition, and story splitting.
- Strong background in API, microservices, and experience working with banks is a big plus.
- Knowledge and experience with Agile techniques – Automated Testing, User Stories, Continuous Integration, Testing, etc.
- Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working experience in JIRA/Confluence.
- Deep understanding of software design principles and patterns.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Scotiabank’s operations to understand and lead the implementation of strategic initiatives is preferred.
- Certification in PMP, CSM, and Scaling Scrum are assets.
