Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Private Client Advice Claims; the Claims Specialist is responsible for the investigation, evaluation and timely resolution and service of High net worth clients claims. Using expert knowledge to handle complex, high profile claims requiring extra care and attention to resolve which may involve litigation and environmental issues . You will be required to meet clients/witnesses etc. to obtain statements and/or negotiate claims on site on behalf of TD Insurance. This role contributes to the legendary customer experience, maintaining high regard for quality and personalized service for a high net worth client segment. You will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure all claims are appropriately managed and resolved, while mitigating risks and escalations and valuing speed and accuracy.
Additional accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:
Use expert knowledge to handle complex, high risk claims that typically take over a year to resolve.
Apply claims management principles and procedures in order to manage claims costs and leakage
Identify potential fraudulent claims and handle according to organizational processes/procedures
Work with claim management vendors to maintain service standards
Act as a subject matter expert in their area of expertise to increase knowledge base within claims
Support the timely and accurate completion of business processes and procedures
Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
Ensure documentation that is prepared / completed is accurate and properly reflects client / business intentions and is consistent with relevant rules / regulations
Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines/ corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
Ensure necessary due diligence to support the accuracy of all customer transactions / activities
Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
Assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct
Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for own area of expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit
Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques
Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team
Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices.
Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners / stakeholders to develop productive working relationships.
Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce
Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally
Job Requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Superior client service orientation
Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment
You have demonstrated your ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment and possess excellent organizational and time management skills
You possess strong typing and computer skills
5-7 years of Insurance Claims experience, with focus being primarily on property claims
Experience dealing with more complex and larger loss insurance claims is required
Experience in handling liability claims is preferred
Experience with and understanding of high net worth market segment is preferred
Valid driver's License and satisfactory MVR is required for field positions
Travel primarily within the Greater Montreal area will be required with flexibility required to travel to other parts of the province of Qc as needed (for Quebec-based applicants)
CIP/FCIP designation is considered an asset
AMF claims adjusting license is required to support Quebec claims
Proficient bilingualism in English and French are required
