The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives, Marketing Planning will advance high priorities through strategy and project work that delivers impact in support of Scotiabank’s business strategy and objectives across Canadian Banking. Reporting to the Director and Head, Marketing Planning and Journey Management, the Senior Manager, Marketing Planning – Strategic Initiatives will help drive Canadian Marketing strategic priorities. You will think strategically about how best Scotiabank can address the needs of our clients and drive impact through exceptional experiences. Accountabilities include leading customer first strategy development for marketing projects and initiatives, leading the Canadian Marketing team’s annual planning process and developing high-impact, high-visibility strategic, communications and project materials.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing insights and other research inputs into actionable business-driving solutions, bringing together external perspectives and input from internal stakeholders.
- Defining objectives, strategic deliverables, and framework for how success will be measured.
- Demonstrating high effectiveness working in grey space, putting structure around ambiguous tasks that have often not been completed before.
- Supporting the development of updates, presentation decks and stakeholder communications, synthesizing information and data into executive level reports to facilitate strategic decision making.
- Fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships with marketing and non-marketing stakeholders to support the achievement of deliverables and overall objectives.
- Leading project implementation, as needed, with clear project plans and governance models.
- Championing proper usage of the Scotiabank brand, in full compliance with global brand guidelines and Scotiabank’s visual identity continuum.
- Demonstrating a commitment to Scotiabank’s values: accountability, passion, integrity and respect. Delivering results in accordance with Scotiabank behavioural competencies. Creating an inclusive team culture and an environment where team members hear, share, and appreciate diverse perspectives.
- Directing day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates and models the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Creating an environment in which you pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

- Exceptional analytical skills. Highly proficient at processing large amounts of research and other information into relevant strategies that support the Bank’s business goals.
- Natural storyteller. Highly proficient in using PowerPoint with strong communication skills and ability to write, design and deliver impactful presentations in relatable and convincing ways. Role will require incumbent to bring together unstructured information and deliver a cohesive narrative/story.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously and effectively in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic business environment.
- End-to-end project management and budget management.
- Highly developed relationship management skills. Capable to engage and work directly with senior marketing and business strategy leaders across the Bank – to gain their trust and fully understand their business.
- Authentic, decisive, resilient, highly collaborative, and results-oriented.
- Self-starter who takes end-to-end ownership and responsibility.
- 8 years of experience in a similar role working in a management consulting firm or as a strategist within an agency/marketing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of marketing strategies and go-to-market plans. Expertise within the Financial Services industry is a plus.
