Hill Knowlton Strategies is currently looking for a Vice President, Communications to join our Western Canada team based in British Columbia and our office in Vancouver. This is a key leadership position for an agency experienced, team-focused, entrepreneurial professional who is looking for the next, exciting step in their career. Your passionate team leadership, industry insights, client-obsession, and strategic mind will be an integral part of helping H K continue to expand its communications offering and team in Western Canada.

This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on communications agency leader to be an integral part of a growing practice, contributing to new business, the delivery/excellence of client programs, and to provide leadership to an outstanding team.

As a Vice President, Communications you will:
  1. Bring a highly developed and modern approach to designing and implementing winning corporate communications campaigns focused on sound strategy and providing both outstanding results as well as exceptional client service.
  2. Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for growing our practice through new business and organic growth opportunities across a range of sectors and service areas.
  3. Be a go-to, hands-on resource for providing senior communications counsel to clients and for the day-to-day management of significant accounts.
  4. Be a trusted issues and crisis communications resource for our clients with the ability to provide leading counsel in a high pressure, high stakes environment.
  5. Play a central role in the mentorship and development of our H K team and a champion for people culture in the firm including providing guidance, feedback, and training to team members to champion their development and their role not only in Western Canada, but nationally as well.
  6. Demonstrate understanding of and experience executing campaigns that integrate not only communications tactics, but thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs tactics as well.
The ideal candidate must have:
  1. Minimum 12-15 years of communications experience in increasingly senior roles including agency experience.
  2. An in-depth working knowledge and network within the British Columbia communications and agency environment with a proven track record of both growing business and supporting team members.
  3. Demonstrated ability to build relationships within an organization and within the business community.
  4. Strong experience managing multiple teams at once from a financial, client delivery and staffing perspective including seeing opportunities to integrate strategies and offerings across sectors.
  5. A strong sense of leadership and an unwavering dedication to mentorship and a strong culture that sets the tone for and cultivates a high-performing team.
  6. Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to communicate and sell ideas to prospects, clients and partners.
  7. A sense of judgment to set realistic expectations in the face of client demands.
  8. Knowledge of the technology, health, transportation, tourism, finance and professional services, or energy sectors an asset as is experience in the ESG/Sustainability space as well as internal communications.
  9. Social media digital advocacy knowledge a must.
