Position Overview
This position is a developmental opportunity. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a zero-incident safety culture while coordinating multiple work fronts and guiding a team of cross-functional employees. As part of the engineering team for the project, the Project Manager will lead team meetings, work collaboratively to achieve the strategic objectives of the project, and assist with any project requirements when needed.
This position will be required to work on-site from an assigned project location within the United States of America. Locations include but are not limited to: California, Montana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, North Dakota, Nevada, Colorado, and Texas. Candidates must be willing and able to relocate to the local area of their assigned project. Remote work and fly-in-fly-out work arrangements are not an option for these positions.
Responsibilities:
- Guide the project team by providing communication, coordination, and follow-up necessary to meet project goals and objectives.
- Maintain ongoing training and mentoring of the project team.
- Directly responsible to senior management.
- Provide ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management.
- Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
- Ensure scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including the client.
- Determine, control, and maintain overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
- Track schedule and budget progress with project milestones and take necessary actions to keep the project on track.
- Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget, and/or schedule.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the client, adjusting as necessary to comply with their needs within contractual obligations.
- Review design standard variances, participate in and review "value engineering" initiatives, and obtain stakeholders' buy-in.
- Support quality control/quality assurance and safety certification processes.
- Develop requests for third-party Work Plans.
- Represent Barnard on all assigned technical matters relating to your expertise.
- Facilitate and attend technical and/or progress meetings as required.
- Review progress reports and endorse invoices for services as required.
- Prepare and/or review various reports and other correspondence related to project technical issues.
- Maintain regular contact with contractors, consultants, and other technical personnel.
Qualifications:
- Must be willing and able to relocate to and reside in any assigned project area in the USA.
- Must be a Canadian citizen for work visa purposes.
- Must have a four-year undergraduate degree in engineering from an accredited university for work visa purposes.
- Heavy civil construction experience is required.
- Experience working in the field on an active construction site is required.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and make sound business decisions in a timely manner to adapt to changing situations.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, methods, and practices combined with sound judgment.
- Effective organizational, research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good oral and written communication skills, including technical report writing skills.
