Since 1997, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) has delivered public safety services on behalf of the government of Ontario. With headquarters in west Toronto, the TSSA is a self-funded, not-for-profit organization that employs approximately 400 staff across Ontario. We are currently looking for Inspector, Boiler, and Pressure Vessel Program (Sudbury and surrounding areas which include Sudbury, Espanola, Monitoulin Island, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste Marie, White River and Chapleau).
Inspector employees are represented by the Ontario Public Service Employee Union - OPSEU/SEFPO, Local 546.
Job Responsibilities:
- Promote public safety through the periodic/in-service inspection and certification of boilers, pressure vessels and pressure piping
- Perform both conventional and nuclear shop inspections for the manufacturing of boilers and pressure vessels
- Apply your technical proficiency by conducting welder and brazer tests and by monitoring repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels
- Develop progressive relationships with your internal and external customers to promote safety-oriented results
Job Qualifications:
- Qualified to write the Ontario Certificate of Competency and will be able to obtain the National Board Commission and ‘A’ and ‘N’ Endorsements
- Five years’ experience in the BPV industry is coupled with a comprehensive understanding of related CSA and ASME BPV codes, the Technical Standards and Safety Act, and BPV Regulations
- As this position requires daily travel, a valid Ontario driver’s license is required.
