The Role

Generator Service Engineer

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will provide maintenance, installation, diagnosis, repair, and testing services across a range of diesel generator sets and associated equipment. Support is primarily conducted at client’s premises; however, there are times it will be conducted at the head office base in Hull.

Key tasks include:

  • Conducting PPM, diagnostic, testing and remedial works on Diesel/Bio Diesel Generators.
  • Conducting client site visits and generating accurate and timely reports.
  • Projecting spares requirements for upcoming and planned works.
  • Customer liaison, always ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting operational tasks i.e., reporting, quotations, progress reports, customer enquiries etc.
  • Generator load testing and fuel polishing.
  • Installation and setup of generator remote monitoring systems.
  • Fault diagnostic using thermal imaging cameras.
  • Generator commission and installation.

Skills

Essential:

  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • A responsible approach to health and safety and able to maintain the highest of standards to work in an organised, safe and systematic way.
  • Provide maintenance services in-line with the engineer’s call-out rota.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Happy with high mileage driving, occasionally working away from home and very minimal weekend work.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a customer-focused, well-motivated and disciplined team.
  • Maintains the highest standards of cleanliness & personal presentation.
  • Possess a positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills.

Desirable:

  • Holds a Safety passport/CSCS card.
  • Already own electrical & mechanical tool kit.
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring regulations.
  • A proven track record within Diesel Engines/Generators.
