This stunning resort is a multi-faceted wellness destination. By combining a European-style approach to wellness hospitality and state-of-the-art spa facilities, they provide guests with a remarkable experience. They seek an Assistant General Manager, under the direction of the General Manager, responsible for aiding in the overall operation of the hotel. You will aid in the development of departmental standards for the hotel, ensuring that the GM approves required expenses and helping in the establishment of standards of service. You will be responsible for the training and development of the Department Managers as well as assisting them with any guidance that is needed. Providing outstanding guest and employee experiences is the primary focus of this role.


Description

  • Aid in the establishment of service standards for the hotel
  • Contribute to the development of the vision and strategy to guide the organization and ensure cooperation across departments
  • Address and respond to any concerns or issues that arise in the organization
  • Aid in overseeing the various departments within the organization such as housekeeping, front office, food & beverage, sales & marketing, events, spa, maintenance, accounting etc.
  • Report to the General Manager any issues or concerns as they arise
  • Provide written and verbal reports on organizational activities on an ongoing basis, and as requested from time to time
  • Schedule staff and work activities as required
  • Supervise, and provide advice, support, guidance, and direction to staff and department managers; monitor the performance of management on an ongoing basis; conduct annual performance reviews; and initiate disciplinary action as required
  • Aid in the monitoring of expenses
  • Answer customer questions regarding policies and procedures
  • Deal with customer complaints and comments
  • Inspect property and services to ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory requirements
  • Review and if necessary assist in providing training for new Department Managers
  • Inspect the hotel for cleanliness and appearance
  • Help resolve any departmental issues
  • Confer and cooperate with other department managers as needed
  • Conduct administrative duties such as reporting and following up on outstanding invoices if necessary
  • Aid any department with help if the hotel gets busy (housekeeping, front desk, restaurant, etc)
  • Be able to provide Human Resource advice as required
  • Other duties as required


Requirements

  • Hospitality Management experience required at the AGM or GM level
  • Demonstrate the highest level of integrity, judgement and confidence
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in hotel management, business or a related field
  • Must be familiar with the Canadian and Provincial Employment Standards Act
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Budgeting experience is an asset
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong customer service skills, able to deal with a high-tension situation quickly, patiently and efficiently
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Currently legally able to work in Canada

Work Conditions
