About The Role

Our client is looking for a Safety Officer As the Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment. You will be responsible for ground level development of safety policies, procedures, and training for a newly commissioned site. This role is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Safety Officer with a passion for innovation and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • This is a key role that will have accountability for developing the safety program in its entirety to ensure compliance with the governing bodies.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and leadership alike.
  • Conduct various training for any safety issues, regulations and procedures as required.
  • Do audits and hazard assessments ensuring documentation is complete and readily accessible.
  • Work with various stakeholders to conduct any safety or incident investigations; and follow any actions through to completion.
  • Monitor all safety metrics and continuously make recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 + years of experience in operations and safety.
  • Safety certification, COR and experience with Quebec’s safety regulations is preferred.
  • Fully versed in investigations, plant standard safety operating procedures and documentation is required.
  • Strong advocate for mentorship and working cross-functionally is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills are mandatory in promoting a culture of safety.
