Position Summary
Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) opportunity available now in 100 Mile House, B.C. Days of work are rotating and shift times are 8hr days and evenings.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. What will you work on:
As a member of the MLA team, you will perform a variety of duties in accessioning, outpatients and hospital collections. Typically this involves a lot of patient interaction through collecting blood and other specimens, preparing blood and specimens for analysis, sample processing and send out to outside Labs. Your responsibilities will also include using the Laboratory Information System (LIS), Holter monitor set-up & placement and ECG testing and some other clerical duties.

As a valued member of the team, you will have an immediate impact on the delivery of high quality care. Lab services is a tight knit group and we pride ourselves on supporting one another in the Lab, and across the facility.

About this location:
The 100 Mile District General Hospital is an acute care hospital in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap health service area. Housed within the South Cariboo Health Centre, the hospital offers services including surgical, inpatient and emergency.

Community: 100 Mile House is located in the Southern Cariboo. It is the centre for outdoor activities and features hundreds of lakes for boating and fishing. 100 Mile House claims a couple of lofty titles, including ‘Handcrafted Log Home Capital of North America’ and is the self-proclaimed ‘International Nordic Ski Capital’, boasting the world’s tallest pair of cross-country skis at the Visitor Centre, and has one of B.C.’s most active Nordic clubs.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Grade 12
• Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
• One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid BC Driver’s License
• Ability to type 25 WPM **please submit a 5 Minute Typing Test (min 25 WPM within the past 48 months) from an approved institution. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
