What you’ll be doing:

As a new IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will report to the IT Security Manager and play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's server, network, and cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability of our systems. This role requires a deep understanding of network architectures, server environments, and IT best practices.

Practically speaking, your responsibilities will include:

Server Management:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain server hardware and software components.
  • Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Implement and manage server security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning to safeguard data integrity.
  • Automate server provisioning and maintenance tasks to streamline operations.

Network Administration:

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Monitor network performance and optimize configurations for maximum efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure network security by implementing access controls, VPNs, and other security measures.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure and manage network services.

Virtualization and Cloud Management:

  • Experience with virtualization environment settings, including ESXi and vSphere.
  • Comfortable working with Linux servers.
  • Deploy and manage virtual servers, containers, and cloud services.
  • Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency and scalability.
  • Implement cloud security best practices including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance controls.
  • Monitor cloud services for performance, availability, and security compliance.

Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define infrastructure needs.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in infrastructure engineering.

The Details

This is a full-time permanent position, offering a competitive salary, performance-based bonus, excellent benefits package (100% coverage), and access to training and development programs. The office is based in Oakville, ON.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • 7+ years of proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role.
  • CCNP or higher certifications.
  • Proficiency in server administration including Linux/Unix and Windows systems.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, as well as a strong scripting or development background.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
