Argus is a fully equipped machining, engineering, and design facility based in Edmonton and Nisku, Alberta. We manufacture a diverse range of superior-quality OCTG products. Our facilities include over 100,000 square feet of engineering, manufacturing, threading, assembly, and test space.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be curious with a troubleshooting mindset; combining experience and a problem-solving approach to repair and maintain equipment and machine tools.

Purpose

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Apprentice Millwright is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and machine tools within the Argus facilities.

Accountabilities

Working with the Journeyman millwrights, the role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Complete routine maintenance work on equipment and machine tools, as per the Argus preventative maintenance task sheets and schedules.
  2. Perform maintenance and repair schedule as directed by the Maintenance Supervisors, ensuring quality and customer requirements are met.
  3. Evaluate machine tools and equipment condition, reporting concerns to the Maintenance Supervisors.
  4. Troubleshoot and provide unscheduled repairs on equipment and machine tools which are not working.
  5. Advise downtime information to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  6. Read and understand drawings, manuals, and specifications to assess machine functionality and assist in making repairs and/or adjustments to machine tools.
  7. Advise Maintenance Supervisor or Manager of machine parts and specialty tools required to keep machines and equipment running.
  8. Understand all machines and equipment within the shops and use shop tools, as required, to determine and deliver maintenance needs.
  9. Record measurements and write service reports.
  10. Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans.
  11. Work with team to identify and deliver improvements as required.
Position Qualifications and Experience

Machine shop experience or a 2nd trade will be an asset. Experience, attitude, and aptitude to diagnose and fix equipment and machine tools. Knowledge of safe work practices, Quality Assurance requirements, and Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles and the ability to impart that knowledge to others.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Machine shop environment with extended walking/standing, limited sitting.

Working wearing personal protective equipment.

Lifting regularly up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
