CAD Operator, Surveying

Greater Toronto Area Canada, Ontario Green Infrastructure Partners Full time

Reporting to the Manager, Operations the CAD Designer will collaborate with the field survey crews, Quality Control department helping them with various tasks.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Completion of design drawings, quantity calculations builds drawings for projects within various work types using various software packages
  • Ability to interpret field survey data, coordinate and communicate with field survey crews
  • Provide calculations and assist with day to day workflows to field staff
  • Prepare 3D models for use in GPS and Machine Control applications as applicable to work/project type
  • Prepare engineering and survey plans
  • Maintain accurate survey and drawing records, documentation and submittals
  • Read, understand and generate Request for Information (RFIs) and maintain records as applicable to work/project type
  • Liaise with site team, designers, and survey technician
  • Define the scope of work and provide layout information at various stages of construction
  • Calculate volumes using various software and methods
  • Maintain as-built records
  • Interpret and adhere to legislative, project and code requirements and client’s specifications (e.g. Ontario Standard Drawings)
  • Conduct QC verification on drawings/designs.



Position Requirements :

  • Post-secondary education in Civil / Mechanical Engineering, Geomatics or design field, Architectural or equivalent experience
  • 3 + years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • 3 + years experience as a civil/water/transportation design drafter
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret Contract Drawings
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Completion of basic design drawings, quantity calculations and as-built drawings.
  • Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment
  • Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business
  • Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges
